History Of That Place

Breathing Earth is a project initiated by the Sundarbans Affairs Department of the West Bengal Government to promote sustainable tourism in the Sundarbans region. It is a part of the larger Sundarbans Eco-tourism circuit and is designed to showcase the rich biodiversity of the region while also providing livelihood opportunities to the local communities.

Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit Breathing Earth is from October to March when the weather is pleasant and the chances of encountering wildlife are higher. However, the monsoon season (June to September) is also a good time to visit as the forests are lush and green, and the rivers are full.

How To Reach

Breathing Earth is located in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, about 130 km from Kolkata. The nearest airport is the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, and the nearest railway station is Canning, which is about 50 km away. From Canning, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Breathing Earth.
